Introduction.
In one of the north places of Holland next to the afsluitdijk you can find the small town Middenmeer. In this area are not so many three’s so it is an open space and there is always a lot of wind. That’s why the electric company Nuon built the windmill park the Wieringermeer over here. Earlier in the years 1925 until 1930 in this area there was only a lot of water and then men deceit to make here land. This is one off the reasons that the weather here is mostly different then in the rest of North-Holland. The always blowing wind and the long distance make it extra heavy for the pigeons. The first long distance races for example Bordeaux of Montauban are here at a minimum of 1000 km or more. When the first pigeon are coming home in Holland our pigeons have to fly 1,5 or 2 hours until they are home. So you must have very special pigeon to fly and fight at the last 2 very heavy hours to come home. Ger bijenhof is the owner of breading & advising loft “Noorderdonck” and collector of these kind of special pigeons. He played years very expectedly on the speed and middle distance in the small town Groet. Then in 1997 he decide to moved to Middenmeer. In the year 1999 he made his decision to buy long distance pigeon and start racing them and he sold his famous speed pigeons. Only for 3 years now he is flying under the name Combination Bijenhof/Vreman and whit very good results en high scores. Right from the start the pigeons are tested very hard, only the toughest have a place. The yearlings must fly 1 but most of them 2 long distance flights a year. And then we are talking about flights whit the minimum about 1000 km. No price means no place. If there are pigeons from the same bloodlines and they don’t have price also the breeders will be removed. Only the best of the best is good enough.
The bloodlines.
In the year 1999 he went in the first place to the Bakker bros. in Genemuiden. He bought here 2 direct sons and an grandchild of the famous Witbuik from Batenburg and son. The hugo, the Jacob and the Marjolein piece by piece jewels and rare to find. After that he want to his friend Mister Magic Nico Volkens from Bergen. The man whit very strong long distance pigeons and several National victory’s. (1e nat.Bordeaux, 1e nat.Pau, 5e nat.Barcelona). The origins of these pigeon comes from the Wizard of Heemskerk Sam de Jong. The origins of these pigeons are the good old Aarden bloodlines from Iron Hein Oostenrijk.(the same as the Brugemann bros.) Ger has several pigeons directly of them and well from the best. So is he the owner of a directly daughter and several grand childeren from the fameuze bonte koppel. He also bought by A.P.Overwater. As you can read he is always looking for the best pigeons.
The pigeons loft.
The pigeons loft has 5 departments and 2 halls and a breading voliere. The breading voliere is open the whole year and the pigeons have enough space in the lofts. The rules are here it must be the quality and not a lot of pigeons. In the first department are 8 breading couples for the international Zlu flights. In the second department are 8 widow couples for the afternoon races like Bordeaux, Montauban ect. In the next 2 departments are the youngsters the promise for the future. In the last department are the breading pairs.
